Knitted Cast On

In RBH patterns, the knitted cast on is most commonly used to cast on stitches in the middle of a row, for instance to create the picots in a picot bind-off. (If you’re looking for help with the knitted cast-on as part of the picot bind-off, you’ll find a demonstration of that here.)

The following video demonstrates the technique starting from a slip knot with no stitches on the needle. If you already have live stitches on your needle, simply skip the slip knot step. Instead, transfer the most recently worked stitch on your right-hand needle back to your left-hand needle and knit into it as shown in the video below.
